I Sell Mushrooms!
No, not the psychedelic ones. You can find me at the Northwood Mushrooms booth at the Mill City Farmer's Market during the summer. I love visitors, and I'm happy to give recommendations. Stop by sometime if you're in the area!
If I'm not at the mushroom booth during the summer, I'm probably in a lake.
Did you know the Minneapolis Parks Department has an open water swim club all summer long? It's an absolute blast. You get a cool swim cap AND a beer glass. In 2021 I completed a 10k in July and then a 2.4 mi to finish out the season. I'll definitely be back in the water this summer.
You know I'm catching those spring and fall migrations.
I cannot tell you how my birding hobby started, but now I can hardly imagine going hiking without my binoculars. I'm not much of a photographer (more of a digiscop-er), but these eagles were especially cooperative. Look how nice! I highly recommend eBird for recording sightings, which integrates with the Merlin ID app.
Have you been to the House on the Rock?
Neil Gaiman describes the architect, Alex Jordan, as Frank Lloyd Wright's evil twin. There's definitely something sinister here between the off-tune orchestras, uneven floors, and devilish dioramas. Did I mention the dolls? But there's also something wondrous, expansive. Magic. Anyway, it's my favorite place in the world, and I think everyone should visit.
I'm a Boilermaker at heart.
I spent six years in West Lafayette completing both my Bachelor's and Master's degree at Purdue University. I'm so thankful for all of the wonderful people that I met during my time there. Boiler up!
Meet the Horicon Marshman
I adore the Horicon community where I worked as an early-childhood SLP for two years. First off, the Horicon marsh is an excellent place for birds. More importantly, Horicon has an awesome group of educators and I'm thankful to have been a part of the schools there.
